The Importance of Humor

There's a lot to be said for having a sense of humor. With so many serious issues going on in the world today and in our private lives, having the ability to smile and maintain a sense of humor is vital. We've all heard the phrases, "pick your battles" or "don't sweat the small stuff" without really taking the time to realize the meaning behind these simple phrases. Life involves a lot of serious business with the war in Iraq, the threat of global warming and economy hitting us as hard as it can every day.

With all these serious issues going on in the world, being able to tell a joke and, more importantly, take a joke is extremely important. Being able to smile and laugh at least once a day is said to help with our blood pressure, heart and stress level, all which make a difference in our overall good health. There is an old saying that is very true that states it takes so many more muscles to frown than it takes to smile. In fact, according to doctors, it takes only 4 muscles to smile but 64 muscles to frown. So, why tire yourself out needlessly?
